Lavender + Sage Sunflower Wedding Invitation | Megan + Dave | Clarkston, Michigan

Megan and Dave chose a Booklet Style wedding invitation, a chic way to deliver much needed ceremony and reception details without the bulk of insert cards. Their event took place in late September (a beautiful time of year here in Michigan) at The Pine Knob Carriage House, a quiet, historical venue surrounded by trees. I've know Megan for years and sunflowers have always been her thing, so we both knew they needed to be incorporated somehow without giving off a farm/country vibe. I came up with just a sunflower outline with a hand-drawn feel, that could be a simple overlay in various colors or opacity. They chose a clean serif font combined with a casual script; we wanted to convey a formal event, but not a stuffy one.  (Megan and Dave are too much fun for that.) I fashioned a faux button-tie closure out of Kraft grocery paper, eyelets and a bronze nail-head, complete with brown sugar baker's twine. All of the event details are printed inside the booklet, and a custom map (hours of love right there) showed guests where to go, and a few suggestions for ways to kill a little time before the reception. A testament to the couple's humor lies within the RSVP Card, a great way to make a guest laugh. We brought the whole thing home with a Kraft RSVP envelope, and a coordinating liner for the crisp white mailing envelope.

We did a simple 5x7" flat ceremony program (even with a full Catholic ceremony!) with all the same elements. For the reception, the couple opted for a large printed seating chart in lieu of escort cards. Once printed, I mounted it to a canvas wrapped in Kraft paper. Table numbers were short and round, and I provided small matching tags for their delightful wedding favor, a scented fall candle.
